Should I Wear a Hat?

Should I Wear a Hat?

Yes!  But then I would say that wouldn’t I?

A wedding is a special day, indeed for the happy couple it’s probably the most important one of their lives so far, and they and their families will have gone to a lot of trouble to make sure everyone enjoys themselves.

So why wouldn’t you go to the extra effort of looking special too?  If you have bought a beautiful new outfit, the icing on the cake is a hat or fascinator.  Without it, the dress remains just that, a dress, but a hat lifts it to another level and finishes off the outfit.

There are also some events where a hat is obligatory.  Most Royal events such as Garden Parties, Investitures, or Royal weddings require hats.  You will be given details of the protocol for such occasions.

Another one is Royal Ascot in June each year.  There are rules about the dress code for this race meeting so be sure to check, or ask me.

So, whether a wedding, races, collecting an honour  – wear a hat!

I haven’t posted for a while – not great times for hat hire I’m afraid but please be assured I am looking forward to weddings, races, Royal Garden Parties and to helping you choose your perfect hat for that special event! This percher can be made in a colour of your choice.

What a year it has been! After a difficult and often frightening year, we are looking forward to things being more positive. As weddings resume in a few weeks (some of which have been postponed several times), I hope to see some of you to choose the perfect hat for your outfit. I am resuming appointments from 12th April but will of course still request that you follow Covid restrictions.

Meanwhile, just after Lockdown1 started, new stock arrived, so it has been sitting waiting for clients to come and try it on. Come and have a look! Here are a couple of new, large hatinators which make a real statement.

Also, during 2020 I took the opportunity to broaden my millinery skills so have a wider range of bespoke items that I can now offer for sale.

Whilst many people were complaining of being bored in 2020, we at Hare Hill were busy all summer, with builders on site once they were allowed to return to work, and Julian and I desperately trying to buy more and more paint! Some of you will remember the barns in the entrance to our yard. During the year we renovated the easterly barn into an events space for small celebrations, weddings, awaydays and craft courses.

Do please have a look at our website www.harehillbarn.co.uk and you may like to subscribe to the newsletter to be kept up to date with exhibitions and craft courses that are coming up.

Spring is definitely in the air here at Hare Hill. The wild daffodils are out on the drive and lambing starts next week. New life, vaccines, warmer weather………. we look forward to an exciting summer.
